Transporting a bicycle by train
Koleje Dolnośląskie, as a regional carrier, also cares for cyclists by providing them with the opportunity for trouble-free travel. In our vehicles, it is possible to transport bicycles, but we rely on the owners of bicycles to respect the rules of their transport. How to transport a bicycle by train, what to pay attention to when planning your trip, and what is the cost of transporting bicycles on the train – we present everything below.
How do you transport a bicycle by train?
Transporting a bicycle on the train requires a designated area for it. Before entering the vehicle, you should inform the train attendant team that you intend to transport a bicycle on the train. The team will indicate the appropriate place in the vehicle. If there are no available spaces or if the transport of the bicycle poses a safety risk to the trip or passengers, the team may refuse to transport the bicycle.
Bicycles can be transported on the train in both folded and unfolded states. In the first case, the train must have an area adapted for transporting bicycles. Passengers intending to transport bicycles on the train should check the availability of such space before the trip. A folded bicycle is treated as larger hand luggage and is transported in the designated area for such luggage. However, it should be remembered that in this case, the bicycle must be packed in a cover
